Pontus Tidemand is the reigning FIA Junior World Rally champion after dominating the category in 2013. After finishing third the previous season, he won three rounds, claimed five podiums from a possible six and clinched the title with a rally to spare.
A motorsport career always beckoned for Tidemand - whose stepfather is Henning Solberg - after he received his first quad at the age of two and his first car when he was four.
Between 2003 and 2007 he drove a cross kart and won the Nordic and Swedish championships. He tried circuit racing in 2008, but settled on rallying and tackled the Subaru Cup in 2009 and 2010, finishing second in the first season and winning the title the next.
In 2011 Tidemand became the youngest ever Swedish champion before making his World Rally Car debut on his home WRC round in 2013. Technical issues forced retirement, but only after climbing to fourth overall.
