Career details

After more than 20 years in the navigator’s seat, Tomi Tuominen is one of the most experienced co-drivers in the WRC.

He began his career in the 1991 Finnish Junior Championship but soon progressed to the full series, working alongside an assortment of Finnish drivers before beginning a long-term partnership with Sebastian Lindholm in 2001. The pair were crowned Finnish champions in 2004 and 2005.

In 2008 Tuominen joined Toni Gardemeister for a full season at the Suzuki World Rally Team, followed by a selection of European WRC events over the next few seasons. He took a year out of competition in 2012, but returned in 2013 alongside Juho Hanninen in an M-Sport Ford.

A series of good results that year caught the eye of Hyundai Motorsport, who signed them for the manufacturer’s debut WRC season in 2014.
