Quentin Gilbert has made a rapid ascent of rallying's hierarchy since his career began in 2008, aged 19, at the wheel of a Renault Clio RS. In 2009 he won the Rallye Jeunes competition for rising young stars organised by the French Motor Sports Federation. He stepped up to Peugeot's Volant 207 series in the French gravel and asphalt championships in 2010 and the following season came close to winning the French Junior Championship in a Renault Twingo R1. He won two of the six rounds, but lost the title with gearbox issues in the final round.
Gilbert was named rookie of the Year by Echappement magazine and in 2012 won the Citroen Racing Trophy title in a DS3 R3T. Last year Gilbert was third in the WRC 3 category and second in the Citroen Top Driver competition. He won the opening WRC 3 round in Monte-Carlo this year, but will drive a Ford Fiesta R5 in WRC 2 as part of a busy programme.
