A newcomer to the WRC2 ranks this year, Avci is a multiple Turkish champion who is aiming to make his name on the international stage. He started his career in 2002, driving a Citroen Saxo 1600 at the Anatolian Rally, and went on to contest four seasons in 1600cc cars before stepping up to a four-wheel drive Mitsubishi in 2007.
In 2009 he claimed his first Turkish championship, with five wins from seven rounds. He took the title again in 2010 and 2011, now at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000 co-driven by Bahadir Gucenmez.
A busy programme in 2012 saw him add a handful of IRC and ERC rallies to his calendar, and although he had to settle for runner-up in his domestic series, he secured the FIA European Rally Cup East. He arrives in the WRC as reigning Turkish champion after a fourth successful campaign in 2013.
