A motorsport career always beckoned for Tidemand - whose stepfather is Henning Solberg – after he received his first quad at the age of two and his first car when he was four.

Between 2003 and 2007 he drove a cross kart and won the Nordic and Swedish championships. He tried circuit racing in 2008, but settled on rallying and tackled the Subaru Cup in 2009 and 2010, finishing second in the first season and winning the title the next.

In 2011 Tidemand became the youngest ever Swedish champion before making his World Rally Car debut on his home WRC round in 2013. Technical issues forced retirement, but only after climbing to fourth overall.

That was the start of a superb season as Tidemand dominated the Junior WRC to win the title with a rally to spare. After finishing third the previous year, he won three rounds and claimed five podiums from a possible six.

His reward was a WRC 2 drive in 2014 and Tidemand showed great pace to win in Germany in a Ford Fiesta R5 and finish seventh in the series, despite contesting only three rounds.

Tidemand was in great demand in 2015 and signed to Skoda for campaigns in WRC 2 and the Asia Pacific Championship.

He won the APRC title with five wins from six starts and tasted success in WRC 2 too, where victory on the Spanish round marked him out as one to watch in 2016.

A full WRC 2 campaign with Skoda Motorsport followed in 2016. Together with new co-driver Jonas Andersson he secured four podiums and took the win in Portugal. He returns for another WRC 2 season with Skoda Motorsport in 2017.
