WRC veteran Nasser Al-Attiyah is a prolific sportsman who has done more than anybody else to raise the sporting profile of his home country of Qatar.
A multiple FIA champion, his winning highlights include the 2006 Production Car World Rally Championship, the 2011 Dakar and nine Middle East Rally Championship titles since 2003.
Out of the car he is a world class skeet shooter, and has represented his country at two Olympics - most recently in London when he took the bronze medal.
His WRC career began in the production car category, where he rallied Subaru Imprezas from 2004 to 2009, finishing as championship runner-up in 2005 but outright winner in 2006. He switched to Skoda and then Ford S2000 cars for two SWRC seasons in 2010 and 2011, taking a best of 2nd in class on the 2011 rounds in Germany and Spain.
With backing from Qatar, he then made the jump to a Citroen DS3 World Rally Car in 2013, and achieved a career best 4th overall at Rally de Portugal.
He switched to an M-Sport Fiesta RS in 2013, and took three top-five results early in the season. He and Qatar parted company from M-Sport at the end of the season and he returns to the WRC in 2014 back in the fiercely competitive WRC2 category.
