Jan Kopecký brings a wealth of experience to Skoda Motorsport’s WRC 2 campaign with more than 180 career starts to his name.

He has won the Czech title on three occasions, completing his treble last season. He also lifted the European Championship in 2013 and claimed the Asia-Pacific crown the following year.

Kopecký has been at the wheel of various Skodas since the start of his career in 2001. He enjoyed two seasons in the WRC’s headline World Rally Car category with a Fabia in 2006 and 2007, taking fifth place finishes in Spain and Germany.

He was instrumental in the development of the Fabia S2000 and finished runner-up four times from 2009 – 2012 in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge before reaching the top step of the podium in the European series after six rally victories.

Kopecký played a similar role with the Fabia R5 and was a strong back-up to Esapekka Lappi and Pontus Tidemand in Skoda’s 2015 WRC 2 line-up. He finished on the podium in each of his three starts and won the category in Germany.
