Anders Grøndal is the third generation rally driver in his family. His grandfather Nils Fredrik and father Stein competed in both rallying and rallycross, and his uncle Knut Fredrik was a Norwegian hillclimb champion.

Anders has been competing since 2003, after former Skoda factory driver John Haugland spotted his potential. Grøndal won his first rally in 2006 in an ex-Petter Solberg Subaru Impreza WRC and the following year finished third in the Norwegian Championship, also lifting his country's hillclimb title.

After a second title in 2009, Grøndal won both the rally and hillclimb crowns in 2010, despite breaking his back in a rally crash and learning that he was 1.5cm shorter after his recovery! Grøndal added another hillclimb crown in 2011.

In 2012 he drove a Subaru Impreza to second in the Norwegian Rally Championship and claimed his best WRC result to date in Sweden in 2013 when he took second in WRC 2 and 11th overall.

In 2014 Grøndal won the Norwegian title again and mixed a home campaign with three WRC 2 outings in 2015, finishing fifth in Finland in a DS 3 R5. In 2016 he claimed his 12th Norwegian rally / hillclimb title after two outright victories helped him to class success in a Ford Fiesta R5.
