Valeriy Gorban owns the Ascania Racing Team in his native Ukraine and has been competing since 2002. He began his career in
a Lada 2112 and took a string of class wins in his home country before moving up to a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII in 2006.
For the next three seasons he campaigned a Subaru Impreza STi N12 and a newer Evo IX Lancer in Ukraine and Russia.
Gorban was second in the 2010 Ukraine Championship before lifting the title in 2011, a season in which he also contested the PWRC and finished seventh. A busy 2012 brought third in both the PWRC, including victory in Greece, and the national championship in Ukraine. Last year he swapped his Lancer Evo IX for a Mini John Cooper RRC and a disappointing WRC 2 season was compensated for by a second national crown.
